The Equestrian Sport: Showing

with one comment

For my beat this semester, I will be taking a close look at what goes into horse showing for hard-working equestrians. While there are many different disciplines of riding, I will focus on the hunters and equitation, two similar types of riding within the English riding style. Showing involves many emotional, financial, and time sacrifices and commitments, and I think the audience would find it interesting to learn more about the so-called “elite” sport, and how many afford to keep up with their passion. I hope to bring light to the amount of time and work it takes to prepare for a horse show, what exactly creates a successful show horse, and how riders operate under the pressures of the horse show world, as well as several other interesting angles.
